For every option contract someone buys, a seller collects the premium. This guide is about being the seller — the side that wins 80% of the time and holds capital you were already comfortable with.
The buyer is betting against the clock. The seller is the clock.
— The Income Engine, Chapter 1
Every rule in this guide was paid for in real money. The seven mistakes chapter in particular — those all happened. The premiums were real, the assignments were real, the recoveries were real. This isn't a cleaned-up academic treatment of options strategy.
The goal was to write the guide I couldn't find when I started: honest about what doesn't work, specific about what does, and short enough that you can actually read the whole thing on a Saturday morning and place your first trade that week.
It's not for everyone. If you'd genuinely rather buy an index fund and never think about your brokerage account, the last page of Part One says so explicitly and tells you to close the guide. That kind of honesty is either a feature or a bug, depending on who you are.
If you're still reading, the strategy is worth your time.
